I bought this item for a trip to Alaska and used it just about every day - yes, it rains there all the time. The coat was wonderful, not only did it keep off the rain but it blocked the wind too, beautifully made and size and color were perfect. I had originally ordered another coat, which was backordered and customer service allowed me to substitute this one so I send kudos to them as well.
I've been looking for a raincoat to fit for 3 years now. I am 5'2.5" and 100lbs, so I'm very hard to fit, particularly w outerwear which usually only comes in Small, not Xtra Small like this coat. Most things on me look like I'm wearing an oversized clown suit. I had tried other raincoats in stores and by mail from well known rival clothing companies, all fit very poorly. One was too tight in the shoulders but poofed out around me like a weather balloon. Most outdoor coats from Beans are only in Small (LLBean take note!) and are too roomy even if layered under. For some heavenly reason, this coat is a perfect and actually flattering fit and doesn't look like it's built for two. The length, the shoulders, the sleeves and cuffs are all just right for me. The hood is roomy enough for a warm hat but adjustable with a velcro strip at back if one is going hatless. Unlike other users I've had no trouble with the zipper being too tight although I couldn't unfasten it at the bottom until I stepped into the garment to put it on. The seams look tight with no loose ends or gaps, seems very well made, even has a nylon lining throughout which adds a bit of warmth as well as shape. We like birdwatching in the woods and this camouflage green is the perfect color for that. I haven't worn it in the rain yet but expect it will perform admirably as Bean's garments always do. You'll love this coat.
This 3/4 length coat is the perfect full-length coat for my less than 5' height. I love the weight and shape of the coat, and I was lucky enough to get it on sale! It's plenty roomy, so you don't need to buy up a size to be sure you can wear a sweater under it. The color I chose (periwinkle) is just want I want to cheer me up on a rainy day.
This coat is a nice weight for B.C. weather and it repels the rain very well. The hood is big but it does not tie or stay in place in the wind, the last snap on the front closure is a bit tight, and the sleeves were a bit long on me (I'm about 5 fot. 4 in.)
