After spending a rainy, cold day walking in NYC during December, I decided I needed a long raincoat that would also be warm. This fits the bill perfectly. The length keeps my legs dry as well as the rest of me, and the zip out lining is perfect for cool weather! If I am ever in NYC in the rain again I will be prepared!!!
I live in Southern California so real heavy coats are usually not necessary. However, I do take public transit and wait on a train platform at 5:30 a.m. At that time of day the temperature does get down to 35-40 degrees.
I ordered the wool lined trench coat for several reasons. They are: it was purple, it was a smaller size than my older trench coat (small rather than 14), it was wool lined so that it can be used as a rain coat to keep me dry as well as a top coat to keep me warm, and it was on sale.
The coat is approximately twice as light as my other coat. The wool lining tends to keep me warm without a lot of bulk.
I really wanted to like this coat. Finally a rain coat that covered thoroughly and kept me dry. However it looked aweful on. Absolutely no style and looked like a huge bag. The size runs large. I am 5'4" and 120 lbs. and a small went to the ground and hung off me. While I could use a good coverage raincoat, I decide this was not worth keeping so I returned it.
