Not What I Expected
PostedOctober 1, 2009
I have been very disappointed with this coat. I bought it for the versatility and rain resistance for camping. The coat is not as warm as I would expect based on the ratings. The inner liner is unpleasantly tight and stiff. The outer zipper pulls apart at the bottom. I wore the coat in the rain, and I got soaked inside an out. Worst of all, the coat trapped the water inside. I was more comfortable with no coat on at all. Needless to say, I will be returning it.

LOVE IT!
PostedSeptember 29, 2009
My husband bought this jacket for me last year and I have never had a coat that completely kept out the cold like this one. It's awesome. Having three ways to wear it means it works great all year. While we don't have subzero temps in Florida, it does get to between 10-15 degrees some mornings. Wind chill is not a factor with this jacket. This jacket keeps me completely warm when walking the dog early in the morning or sitting out at a sporting event at night.

Should love this jacket, but.....

It's important to note how temp ratings are determined (28 yr old guy with light activity). I run in the winter and I wouldn't wear this to run in (too bulky). I field-tested this jacket at a kid's football game at night standing under a canopy in 56 degree raining weather with a breeze. Wore it with a cotton turtleneck and a light fleece vest. I also had the appropriate layers of bottoms on, so I'm just judging on how well it kept my core and arms warm. I think I was "LL Bean" head down to waterproof boots! Sleeves are definitely a problem as the fleece has a lot of resistance. I bought this jacket due to it's flexibility (3n1) and waterproof-ness. I was definitely kept dry. I anticipate using this jacket again under similar conditions, but will definitely use my running shirts vs cotton. If the temps were down in the 40s, I think I would have been cold. I think the jacket without the fleece liner will be great while shoveling snow (especially, if said snow is still falling and wet). This is definitely not a "go-to' jacket just because it's so hard to put on and take off, but if you need the "weather-proofing" wear the extra-warm light silky underlayers and enjoy the game!
