This coat didn't meet the standards they suggest. The wind goes right through the shell and the bottom strings do not help keep the breezes out - even for just the bus stop. I was very dissapointed. It is more of a early fall/late spring coat- if that. I love LLBean stuff and have ordered for years, but I am now in the market for another warmer winter coat (which I didn't want to do at this time of year)
I'm tall with wide shoulders so I was a bit worried considering other reviews, but my medium, is a perfect fit. So far the shell has proven it's worth as being waterproof throughout this past fall and the New England ice storm last week. I find myself having to unzip when the liner is in to keep from overheating, can't wait to really test it out in the winter wind and biting cold come January. This jacket is warm enough on it's own, if I'm wearing a sweater or other thick shirt, I leave the liner at home.
I was very disappointed with the Weather Challenger 3-in-1 Jacket. I am not a huge person but the largest size would not allow me to wear anymore than a t-shirt under it. Being a scouter I am camping once a month year round with a boy scout troop in Michigan and needed a all purpose jacket that would withstand it all. No such luck. shoulders and sleeves were so tight I could not put my arms down. Please consider a line of larger sizes for those of us who usually wear an XL.
I love this coat! It is worth the money! I wore it this past weekend on an open Trolley ride and I was the only one not freezing at the end. The fit is a little wierd, seeing as all 3 pieces fit different then when you put it all together, but I don't think there is a way around that! And I LOVE the brown color!
