I ordered a variety of winter jackets from several sources but when I put on the 3-in-1 Challenger jacket, I just knew it was the right one! Of course, as a BIG fan of The Weather Channel, I am delighted to be wearing the same jacket. The fit is good, I like the removable inner jacket, and the color....there's never been a sky so blue. If we get a big snow here in the mountains of Western Carolina, I'll always be spotted!
I bought the men's version of this jacket, size small (I love loden green, and the women's version didn't come in this color) because I wanted something that would keep me warm and protected from inclement New England weather. It's the warmest jacket I've ever owned; it's really amazing. Even with just a light cotton shirt underneath, I don't feel cold, rain or - most important - wind coming through while wearing both inner and outer layers. The fleece lining is very wind-resistant and warm by itself, I love the way it makes me feel wrapped in a blanket. I love the stowaway hood in the jacket's collar - it is very protective, and now I don't have to carry an umbrella in case of sudden rain. I love that this jacket fits so many cold/wet weather options; I don't have to own three different jackets for different types of weather. Thank you L.L. Bean!
Purchased Jacket for Hiking/Jacket fits perfect...LOVE the color. High in Cutness factor BUT last weekend we got caught in a light rain... I GOT SOAKED! The Jacket will NOT keep you dry. Go for a Gortex if you are really intent on a 4 season hike. I just wonder what it is like in the snow... I was very disapointed.
Went to California this month. Used both layers as one jacket majority of the time. Wore the fleece by itself on a sunny day. Very functional and lightweight. Also purchased the men's jacket for my husband. He loved it too!
