I bought this jacket about a year ago and wear it all the time. When I first got it I didn't think it would be warm enough to use in winter, judging by the weight (I live in Chicag and we get very cold windy winters). But I was wrong - I wore this jacket all winter and found it to be very warm. Here is what I like best about it: Its warm and waterproof; You can wear the fleece liner and the shell separately or together - great for all weather use; If it gets dirty you can just put it in the washing machine with no problems; its not overly bulky so its comfortable to wear. The only down side to this jacket is that the fleece liner "sticks" to the sleeves of a sweater or sweatshirt when taking the jacket on or off. That is kind of a pain, but I still rate this as the best jacket I have ever had.
We bought these coats for a cross country road trip this Fall. The jacket's all purpose 3-in-1 worked well with our wide range of temps (30-90) and snow and rain.
This is the perfect jacket! I bought it for a trip to the North East in October because I was uncertain of the weather conditions. I've worn it with the fleece liner attached, without the liner as a rain shell, and just the fleece by itself when rain wasn't an issue. Not only is it completely functional, but it also comes in attractive colors and looks great!
Overall, the Jacket seems like a great jacket with all the features that I am looking for; however, it does not come in an extra-small. The size small was too big for me so I am planning on returning it. I wish that LL Bean made more items in size extra-small.
