This jacket is a 3 season jacket, (here in Alabama).....Just warm enough for winter but not too warm for spring and fall. The versatility of just using the fleece or the waterproof shell is very useful. Love it and will buy one again when this one wears out. My only complaint is the color, the brown was more of a tan but it wasn't a big deal.

I bought this particular jacket for a recent summer Alaskan cruise. No chilly winds from the glacier I was standing on could penetrate through the layers of this jacket. I was warm and toasty. I love the versatility of the jacket because you can wear the shell over a heavier sweater or sweatshirt. If you need the extra layer of fleece you have it. The deep pockets on the inside of the fleece jacket are perfect for your digital camera that is well protected from the elements. The jacket is also great for those unexpected drizzles or rain showers. You'll be kept dry. I really don't have a bad thing to say about this jacket. It was a great investment for me, and I wore it hiking through the Alaskan rain forest, out on the boat and even standing on the glacier. Thanks L.L. Bean. You are the best!!!
I bought the Weather Challenger 3-in-1 Jacket to take on a trip to France last year. It far exceeded my expectations. Wearing the fleece and the outer jacket together keeps me warm and dry (in wet weather). The hideaway hood is a fantastic feature that increases the utility of the jacket. There are plenty of pockets in both pieces. One unexpected benefit was how soft the fleece is--just perfect to double as a pilow on the plane. I highly recommend this product.
My husband bought this for me and I love this jacket. It was delivered just in time for a recent rain storm.
Pros: - Waterproof and breathable. Love this fabric and it's not noisy like some PVC-based rain coat material. - Versatile. Wear the shell alone or wear the fleece alone (it looks great, no one would ever think you're wearing a liner from another jacket), or wear them together for great warmth. - I love the fit. It is a trim fit and I might suggest ordering a size up for most folks, especially if you want to wear a sweater or kind of bulky clothes under it. I am 5'3" and weigh about 110 lbs and the small is perfect. Not overly large so that it looks too big on me, just enough room to wear whatever I want under it and have it look great. - The hood, which can be rolled into the collar and the collar doesn't become thick, uncomfortable and in the way. - Styling
Cons: Honestly, no real cons. Some people don't like the fit but just realize that this is a trim fit item and size accordingly. But, since I feel like a review needs a couple of suggestions... - cuffs are a bit tight. Since they have built in velcro to snug them down, might as well offer a bit larger sleeve opening and let people cinch down with the velcro according to personal taste. It was kind of a pain to look at my watch for example. - The front storm flap does not have velcro. Honestly I haven't had any rain get behind the front storm flap and through the zipper, but a few velcro points (top, bottom, middle) on the storm flap would provide peace of mind.
