The jacket is OK. I wish the sleeves in the fleece liner were lined. The fleece tends to stick to whatever you are wearing. The hood should be detachable and does not adjust easily. The weight is good. Too expensive.
This is a great jacket for areas where cold, snow, and rain are frequent, but not intense. It is fine in the Washington, DC area, but might not be sufficient further north. The flaw in this jacket lies with the elastic loops that are meant to hold the sleeves of the liner to the sleeves of the shell. They are not sewn into the liner well enough--perhaps not inserted deep enough. Mine pulled out after only a couple of weeks use. L.L. Bean offered to take the jacket back or reimburse me for the cost of having it repaired. I chose to repair it, which only cost $6. So, it's a great jacket, but you may have to have some work done on it to make it as durable as it should be.
I just purchased this jacket for my husband last week and he loves it! The weather here in MA has been blistering cold and the other day with this jacket on he had it unzipped since it stays so warm. He arrived in S. Korea the other day and said that it has been raining but the jacket has kept him nice and dry.
The jacket overall is an excellet product except for one feature I did not want to fight everytime I put it on. The jacket has a fleece lining in the arms of the coat that make it very difficlt to put on and take off if you are wearing a long sleve shirt. If they would fix that one problem by putting nylon in the sleve, the jacket would have a five star rating.
