I have been buying LL Bean outerwear for over 40 years. I have never been unhappy with their products, each item is designed for a specific need. This combo jacket is a great all weather jacket. The combination of outer shell and thermal jacket liner makes it a true all season jacket. I did a lot of research and selected the jacket based on the specifications listed on their website. It is great for the warm hurricane season and great for the mild winters in South Florida. When I go north I get to enjoy the comfort of the innerliner. The Weather Channel tag makes my wife laugh but it did have an effect on my purchase. Watching the news staff standing in hurricanes made me feal at home. The only thing I would modify is to line the outershell pockets. They get a little cold if you are not wearing gloves in colder temperatures. A great jacket at a good price from a great company.
This seems like a good quality jacket. I'm pleased that at first blush it's warmer than I expected it to be with the liner zipped in. However, at 5-foot-11 and 147 lbs, I ordered a size "Small Regular" expecting it to be too short, and a size "Medium Regular" expecting it to be too big. Boy, I did not expect the size "Small Regular" to be so big on me - It's plenty long enough, even in the sleeves, and very roomy for my little belly! It may be a keeper, but I need to shop around first and see if I can find a better fit. Note to LL Bean: XS-Tall would be a great size to offer :-)
I really like this jacket. The outer shell is really waterproof and rugged and the inner liner is quite warm. It's great in both wet and windy weather. Each layer is quite usable on its own. I just wish it had either a double zipper or some snaps as it's a bit uncomfortable to sit in when zipped.
