Got this for hubby to replace old coat and he loves it. Unsure of size, we ordered a medium and a large; the medium fit just right. He is 5'11", 170 lbs, with a 16" inch neck and 39" chest, and the large was simply too big (returned). He shoveled snow on a 20-degree day and was warm in the jacket with lining, although without such activity he said he'd want a sweater under it at that temperature. Freedom of movement is good, and the variety of pockets very nice. The colors are more muted than what they seem on our PC display, but that suits him just fine. With this type of jacket the collar will be kind of rigid and stick up, which my husband is getting used to. Overall, he is very pleased with the purchase.
This 3n1 jacket is great. I work on wharfs and this jacket kept me warm. I also purchased some winter gloves from L.L. Bean to complete my ensemble- I just cannot believe how warm I was! The only downfall to this jacket is the front plastic zipper. The zipper broke on me, but L.L. Bean exchanged it for me.
I was looking for a combination coat that was impervious to wind and moisture. I wanted an inner liner that was removable so that I could regulate my warmth. I had an EB-tek coat that had all of this that was accidentally thrown out. I took over two years to find it's replacement. My friend, who is a "Beaner" - an LLBean employee said I had to checkout this coat. He was right. It is great. High cold winds that we had last weekend in the DC area (Jan 2011) never penetrated the coat. I had a simple bottom layer (long sleeve cotton tee) and the jacket did the rest. If a better layer is needed an Under Armour layer would be perfect.
