Warm enough for upstate NY winter. Both the removable liner and the outer shell look good enough to wear separately, which isn't always true with some similar products. The zipper also works well. The only drawback is that the fleece liner creates drag on sweaters or some shirts when putting it on, but the salesperson did point this out as I considered other LLBean alternatives. The blue jacket is very smart, and I have had lots of compliments. All in all, I am very happy.
I ordered this to replace an older All Conditions Parka that doesn't fit any more. It's a much lighter weight item than the older all conditions parka, but I can chalk that up to advances in fabric technology.
The length isn't very long - hits me at the hips. I am 6'2", but don't think I needed the tall size.
I did order true to size, and with anything other than a lightweight sweater, the liner and/or my clothes will bunch up, so it tends to be a trim fit.
Overall, it's all the jacket that I'll need for 3 seasons in the south. For folks who live farther up north, probably a good 2-season jacket.
i absolutely love, love, love my weather challenger jacket!!! i received it about a week before that mega snow storm that hit nj. i was all snuggy warm and dry in my jacket. at 52, this is the best jacket i've ever had.
