This is a great dog bed!!!...But it has one huge flaw. The cover is not removeable on the part of the bed the dog actually lays on. You can take the outside cover off, but the pillow cover is not removeable. Not being able to wash it regularly really shortens the amount of time you are going to want this bed lying in the middle of your house. If you are like me you want to keep an indoor dog bed pretty clean!
I have a Boxer who is nearly one year old. I bought her this bed for a birthday present. She has loved all of the other dog mats I've purchased for her, lying down on them as soon as I put them on the floor. This one, however, has yet to be sat on.
There are a few reasons for her lack of using this dog bed: (1) She's too big for it. Even though she is a small Boxer, and Boxers generally sleep in small balls, she is still too big for the large size of this bed. Her backbone is essentially as long as the length of the bed. (2) It's too warm for summer/fall weather. I keep the house air conditioned, and she has no problem overheating on the other dog beds, but this one appears to be warmer than she wants for autumn. (3) The sides are too firm for her taste. Originally, I thought she would enjoy the firmness of the sides of the bed so she could rest her chin on them, but it appears she considers these more of obstacles.
If the bed were bigger, I would definitely try it for the winter, but as it is, I will have to return it.
I have 3 dogs and 4 cats they all love these beds. Since their old beds are wearing out I have to get 3 of the same size although I have two small dogs and one large. The smalls take over the large bed whenever possible so I have no choice but to get large. They must really be comfotable (lol)
