We got this for our daughter this Christmas, and she loves it even though she is a little bit small for it yet (16months) and can only go backward for the time being. It is very easy to put together. Unless your hands are exceedingly large you can fit under the car body easily and have it together in 20-30 minutes tops. It is handy to have a ratchet and screw driver. Also, a little lube along the two side wheel slots and on the steering column makes a huge difference, so don't worry about reviews saying the steering is stiff...easily addressed and with the lube in place it steers easily. Have had no problem with the handle, but you do have to push the spring lock in with a key or similar to release it. The only negative is that the horn is a bit wimpy and requires some energetic pushing to get it working...definitely beyond what our girl can do now. Overall, we're very happy we got it for her and anticipate it easily lasting until she's outgrown it.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my two grandsons ages one and three. The button clip that attaches the handle to the body of the fire truck broke the day after Christmas. I called LLBean and a replacement was sent, but this time the clip only lasted three days. The truck itself is very nice, and the kids enjoy it, but I bought this particular item because of the handle and the ability to comfortably push it. Very disappointed . . .
I sent this to my niece - OK, she's only 9 months old, but I couldn't wait to give her a Radio Flyer from LL Bean. Everyone was thrilled with this gift! It was the highlight of the holiday.
