The shirt is itchy mainly around the neckline at the collar; which is also kind of small compared to most crew necks; so it is unavoidable. The fit is tight in the neck but just gets way too loose from there. I ordered a Medium and I am usually an easy fit because I'm average height and weight at 5'9" and 170 but this shirt seems to be made for men much taller (since the sleeves were way too long) and also men with beer bellies(was quite baggy and stretched already in the belly). I would have actually kept the shirt and dealt with the itchiness if the fit would have even been close. I liked the quality as far as craftsmanship and thus gave it 3 stars.
Over the years I've accumulated a number of these shirts, and along with the River Driver Henleys, they fill up an entire drawer during the Fall,Winter, and early Spring. The crewneck is a great foundation when layering and looks pretty sharp all alone.I sort of tend to the River Driver Henleys though because being able to open the top button or two comes in handy when it gets a little warmer during the day,or I need to release a little heat. That being said,I do use the crewnecks often as a base layer.
This is my second from this line, and is the crewneck. The fit is great - a little loose, but what I wanted for this item. Material is very comfortable right from the start and seems to get softer with wear. Strong recommendation for an item between a regular shirt and heavier sweatshirt.
I ordered the Henley in the Dark Indigo Heather - a really great color. The double-layer is a great outdoor shirt for cool autumn and spring days. It's the perfect shirt when I don't want to wear a jacket over a Tee. It is warm, soft and fits well. The only problem was that it is just a little itchy but I still liked it so much I ordered a second one in the Crew. My dilemma was that I had a hard time picking a color as the heather colors all look terrific!
