I really like these shirts because they are warm and not bulky. Even though they are part wool, there is no itch to them because of the cotton lining. I ordered the XL and it fits great even after washing. A very comfortable shirt for cold weather layering.
I bought this shirt for all the men on our Christmas list; Everyone loved the shirt and were impressed to receive something from LLbean. They "thicken" with washing due to mild shrinkage but this was a good thing because the shirts appeared oversized prior to washing.
I love Bean's river driver's shirts. My husband and I have 8 of the all cotton henley river driver's shirts and 4 of the crewneck wool/cotton river driver's.
The wool river driver's shirts are not as soft or thick as the all cotton shirts, but they are warmer. The inside layer isn't super soft, but it isn't itchy. I think the sleeve cuffs are a bit longer than normal sleeve cuffs too. The crewneck was tight around the collar for me, so in future I might get the henley style instead.
These shirts keep you warm and are great for layering or sleeping in. The navy is darker than the navy all cooton river driver's shirts. I also love the black spruce color.
Sizing is normal. I normally wear a women's medium in Bean and the men's small fit me great. The guys have nicer stuff than us girls sometimes, and these shirts are one of them. I also prefer the men's rugby shirts.
