bought for my son for 1st grade, he has used through 3rd grade. plenty of room for all his school supplies, texts and fleece jacket,rocks, collections. even with very tough use of a 9 year old boy (swinging it by the handle, dragging it in and out of the car,etc the bag, wheels, pockets, zippers are still in perfect condition. he is moving on to a new backpack simply because he feels he is too old for it going into 4th grade. I would recommend monogram since other kids had same backpack, just to prevent mixup
We ordered this backpack two years ago for my son - then entering the first grade (after we had gone through three less expensive / not-so-good quality backpacks throughout the Kindergarten year) - he is now entering the third grade and the backpack is in perfect condition after a quick surface wash - still going for the third year! Plenty of space, no rips or tears, etc (and he is pretty rough with it). Highly recommend!!!! (Red with Shark) A TERRIFIC ITEM!!!!!!
I think this is an excellent product with only one design flaw. The wheels stop working after a few months. Thus, you have to either carry the backpack in the tradition manner or drag it on the ground.
The quality of this pack is great and both of my kids love theirs, but really, it's too big for them and more pack than they really needed. The packs will be good for school, car camping and trips to grandma's house, but they are not appropriate for picnicking and day hikes.
I was a bit irritated that I could not have these packs personalized with my kids full names. There is plenty of room for this on the pack so I had it done by a local embroidery crafter.
