The backpack was much smaller than I expected. If your child has more than a couple books, this definitely is not the backpack for you. The backpack is extremely heavy and would not be good to carry on your back, so if your child will not be allowed to use the rolling feature, you do not want this product. Once my daughther put what few books it would hold in the backpack, it was so heavy she could barely lift it. The overall quality seems to be good but this backpack is way smaller than I expected it to be an much heavier. My daughter does love the color and the general style of the backpack but was disappointed that all of her books will not fit.
my daughter ADORES this pack, but cannot wear it as a backpack. She used it as a rolling bag last year in 2nd grade, but now is not allowed to use the rolling feature due to her 3rd grade classroom being on the second floor. She started to use it on her back, but the frame of the pack is so hard that it has badly bruised her shoulder blades and her lower spine. This might be a consideration if your child will use this primarily as a BACKpack. The rolling feature is EXCELLENT- easy to use, fluid motion, convenient. The lighted wheels are fun too.
I went ahead and made the purchase anyway even though I had read of dissatisfactory reviews online. My product came with the double zipper not working well at all. I called LL Bean on a Sunday and they sent a replacement asap. It was so hassle -free, which I appreciated greatly. My 1st grader was thrilled to have his new bag for his new school year. The bag works great now! Thank you.
This bag was for my 1st grader. He loved the bag, the wheels lighting up was a bonus, we had missed that in the description. 4 days into school he came home and one of the back straps had ripped. Apparently they expect a child to decide if they're going to carry or roll the bag...then stop, unhook the straps and tuck them in..all to roll the bag and then re-attach them to carry the bag the other way. Come on now. Looks like the LLBEAN designers have their work cut out form them with this problem. Anyway....LLBEAN replace the bag, customer service was excellent expediating the service. We got the new bag and 2 days later the wheel breaks....just wont turn. Now this bag is going back. I've ordered the reg. critter pack. My 7 year old is disappointed that he isn't going to have the rolling pack, I explained that with out having the rolling pack maybe the new one won't break. This was my first experience like this with LLBEAN everything is usually top notch.
This experience was much more disappointing for my little boy than it was for me. That is what bothers me more.
