After using the rolling critter backpack for a year it has worn well, but we haven't been happy with it for a couple of reasons. One is it is SO heavy even empty that you really shouldn't put much more in it for a 7 year old if you do have to carry it. Also, we found that switching between the rollling "mode" to the straps and back was very cumbersome due to the straps not staying tucked in properly, therefore frustrating either ourselves or our son as the straps dragged on the ground and/or got stuck under the wheels. if you live in a climate with no snow and can always drag it I would just cut off the straps and get rid of them, however that is not practical for snow outside or stairs etc. We wouldn't get another one, and are considering not using it for grade two, which is a shame considering the price of them. ..
I bought my daughter the butterfly backpack for her birthday the week before school started. With monthly cleaning and inspections the pack still looks almost new, only some scuffing on the bottom where you'd expect it. As she is still a little small for her age she doesn't carry it on her back and the bag is rated for age 7-10 yrs. I would not recommend it for younger than that. I will not be buying her a new backpack this year as this one has held up so well. She still loves it, too. When her brother enters the first grade he too will have one.
I orderd 4 for my grand children. Just received the first one and I am sooooooo happy with it. Besides being gorgeous with all the cute details, the construction is outstanding! And the led lighting wheels are really fun. My grandaughter is jumping with joy! I love the telescopic that is easy to handle and the same color of the pack! I am looking forward for her to enjoy to the fullest.
LL Bean packs had been recommended to me by a friend as being almost indestructible but were a bit pricey. Then when a cheaper pack I bought my son disintegrated almost immediately, I ordered this backpack. I was disappointed when a wheel fell off after only 4 months use,but LLBean replaced it with only the shipping charge - wonderful service!
