After reading other reviews, and figuring I would most comonly wear these without socks, I ordered 1 size down from my regular size. Specifically, I normally wear an 8 in street shoes and boots, usually with thick socks, bought these in size 7. To start with, they were never uncomfortably tight. They do stretch and conform to your feet. Although I don't do it a whole lot, they are fine with socks, and I'll admit I am a thick sock person. The wool lining retains some loft even after many hundreds of hours of wear, and the wool's wick with warmth ability makes them great for after getting out of the shower. Even late at night, outside with the dogs when the temps have dipped into the 30s and I've been too lazy to put on socks before going out, feet stayed comfortable. The one thing that really surprised me, was that they are actually fine walking in a rocky and rough gravel driveway. I will miss them outside once the snow starts to fly as there is no tread since a smooth leather sole. I don't know if adding a treaded sole would allow the body of the slipper to stretch and conform to a foot as wonderfully as these have. A suggested project for LLBean footwear engineers!
The raisin-color bison slipper is fabulous, and an excellent-quality moc for the price. They remind me of the moccasins I wore in the summer as a young girl. I am a pretty firm 7B, and the 7 is a great fit. My foot is turning them into a custom fit after a couple of hours. If they loosen up too much, I'll be happy to wear them with wool socks this winter. Well worth waiting for these!
These slippers are beautifully made and comfortable. However after wearing these for approximately six weeks the padding in the heels is compacting so much so that I am pronating terribly causing knee pain. It would be nice if there was a removable insole so I could at least add one with some support. I love wearing them but I can feel my feet leaning inward each time I wear them They need to put a better quality padding that is more resilient and can resist becoming compacted in such a short amount of time.
These slippers are absolutely beautiful, the leather is gorgeous and the shearling is so very warm. (I'm a tiny and cold person, so I don't give the term "warm" out loosely) But they appear to be of very good quality. My only issue is that I am a 6 1/2, and these only come in whole sizes. I ordered a 7, but they are just a tiny bit too big and I'm afraid that the part where the slipper rubs against my heel will wear off over time. But I can't be positive yet. I'm 100% positive that a 6 would be too small. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this purchase and only gave a four star because of the lack of half sizes.
