I've had my eye on the Flying Geese quilt coordinates for some time and finally ordered them. Like several other reviewers I found the Full/Queen quilt to be a little small for my Queen bed. The width was OK since I wanted it to hang short enough for the blue & white stripe bedskirt to show. While the length was enough to fully cover the bed, it was an unattractive length as shown through the foodboard. Of course there was no problem exchanging it for a King. All that being said, I absolutely love all of the pieces - Quilt, Shams, Bedskirt. They are of the usual High LLBean Quality and the design is just beautiful. I highly recommend the set to anyone. While it has an "old timey" feel it also blends beautifully with other types of furniture and decor.
This is a really nice, well-made quilt. The colors are beautiful, and the modified flying-geese pattern has a modern flair. The weight is excellent, not flimsy at all. I ordered the matching bedskirt, and the combo is great.
My one problem is that the quilt is about six inches shorter than it's supposed to be. I have to admit that before putting the quilt on the bed, I washed it and dried it on low at the local laundromat, instead of line drying it as recommended. It came out okay as far as I can see, except for the length. Did it shrink by six inches? I tend to doubt that, because the quilt didn't shrink widthwise.
I still recommend this quilt highly. But as soon as you get it, measure it to make sure it conforms to the stated dimensions. If it doesn't, LLBean will take it back, and you can try again. The effort is worth it for this lovely quilt!
The quilt arrived today and my husband and I are very satisfied. We are putting a king size quilt on a queen size bed and therefore do not need a bed skirt. The quilt is bright and cheery. I was delighted with the quality and weight of the quilt. Because this one is so well made I just now chose another Bean quilt for a different room.
I ordered 2 flying geese quilts. I loved the quilts individually, but the fabric of the two was not bound in the same direction, nor were they exactly the same size. One was bound so that the quilt would need to be turned to a 90 degree angle so the geese were flying the same way. To get two bound with the pattern going in the same direction so that they looked nice on bunkbeds, I had to order a third and return one.
