I ordered my normal shoe size and the footbed fit me perfectly, but alas the boot was far too wide in the calf for me- and I'm average height and weight, no stringbean. I might have kept them anyway, but the effect was that it looked like I was wearing a tall funnel on each leg. Also, I didn't care for the neoprene insert on the outside of each boot, which is hard to see in the on-line photo. It reminded me of a boot that the police wear when on motorcycles. Would like to add that this is not a pull-on boot as described, it has a zipper on the inside of each calf. Disappointing.
These boots are a nice compromise between practicality and looks. They look good enough to be a dress boot, but they are waterproof and keep your feet warm. However, they run small in the foot bed - I have a narrow foot and they are still too tight and my calves are thin and there is just enough room for mine. So, if you have full calves don't order these and order a size larger for your foot.
I was very bummed that these didn't work out for me. They are very cute and they seemed comfortable. Unfortunately, they were way too big for my legs. I looked like I was wading in them. I even asked a shoe repairman if they could be taken in, but their design does not allow for adjustments. If you have thin calfs then these will not work for you. My calfs are 34 cm around. If your calfs are less than 38 cm then they will probably be too wide for your calfs as well.
I bought these for a specific trip to Argentina. I was worried that I would not have enough time to break them in, which I didn't because I had to leave within a few days of receiving the boots. It was winter there in July and these boots were PERFECT! I did not get one blister and we walked for miles each day around Beunos Aires. Comfortable, warm and the best boot purchase I have ever made. I read the other great reviews, which helped me make the decision to buy! Love them!
