I really like these shoes. I also bought the mid high shoes, but I prefer the low cut shoes. They are lighter. I hike and walk my dog. They are well contructed. The only damage I have is from my puppy chewing on them while I was wearing them. I still wear them after about a year and a half. I noticed some wear on the soles but is is normal. I use them almost daily. Sometimes to work in the office. The waterproof is nice when I am watering the lawn or refilling my dog's water bowl. Can't say enough good things about this shoe.
I used the boot version of this shoe to walk the 800 km Camino 4 months ago. Although I wore them a few weeks before the Camino, I never got a blister and my feet, legs and back were comfortable throughout the 35 days (and beyond!). I bought this second pair because it's one of the few shoes that give me the support and comfort I need. I broke my hip a year and a half ago which has affected the walking comfort of my left sole, which then affects my leg. These shoes, high and low version, provide all-day wear comfort and support. I have a narrow foot in a size 13 and have trouble finding narrow shoes in men's sizes. I bought a pair of these hikers more than a year ago, and they fit very well. They are starting to show a lot of wear (they are the only shoes I wear when I'm not at work) but still not falling apart like some hikers I've bought in the past. Just received a replacement pair. So happy to be able to find narrow shoes in something durable and good looking.
I like a trail shoe with a sole stiff enough so that my wimpy feet don't feel stones through them. After all, if these stompers have to be as heavy as they are (2 lb 14 oz for a pair of size 11.5), they met tha requirement for me. These shoes are nimble enough and stiff enough for me to day hike or backpack with them.
These shoes feel comfortable enough so long as I don't try to flex my feet--I seem to expend less energy walking with my feet almost immobile. In fact, another much more flexible shoe made me feet ache after a few miles. Laced tight for descending and loose for ascending.
