This is one of the most comfortable pairs of footwear I have every had, regardless of type. First I bought the mid-cut for hiking in the mountains. They were so comfortable that I started wearing them when I walked my dog, about 1 1/2 miles twice a day on concrete and brick sidewalks, instead of using the "walking shoe" that I bought for this purpose. So I bought the low-cut model of the mountain treads to walk the dog. The waterproof construction and tread are nice to have so that I can wear these shoes in any weather, but if they didn't feel so good on my feet that wouldn't matter, these are a great pair of shoes.
Good fit, good all-purpose, all-weather hiking shoe. Perfect for day-hikes, walking the dog in bad weather. She appreciates it and I appreciate it. So far, so good!
On my third pair,comfortable out of the box,minimum break-in. Well made and long lasting. I have tried many other brands but none do as well for me as these. I now have both high cut and low cut. They are expensive but well worth the money. Size runs true.
I ordered these on line and got the wide width version in my usual 10.5 size. They fit well out of the box and I have worn them one full day in light use to start breaking them in. They were comfortable the first day and should loosen up and fit great long term. I always like getting LL Bean because I am one of the lucky ones to have a store close to my home and that means I can order on line and if there are any issues, I can walk into the store and talk to a person and get things adjusted or changed if I need to. In this case, the quality of the materials and the good fit out of the box mean I won't be doing anything but more walking and hiking in these.
