These are very well made and sturdy shoes. They can be used for serious hiking or just outdoors.
However, mine requirted a fair amount of wearing for break in as they are quite stiff out of the box. At first, I thought I'd ordered a size too small but once my heal fit the heal cup and the laces kept my foot from the front of the shoes, I was fine. I have not yet worn the shoes in really foul weather but I am confident that they will work just fine.
This is my 3rd pair of these shoes- the fit and comfort are very good. They have more firmness then any sneaker type of footware I have ever owned. I only wish that they would allow them at my workplace, which requires steel toed shoes!

This must be about the 6th shoe of this exact design I've had over the last 15 years. No Joke... I hunt/fish in them, wear them to work during bad weather, when they get worn out (about 2-3 years) I promote them to my grass cutting/yard shoes.... All along - my feet are comfortable and DRY!!!
