First time that I found an LLBean product unsatisfactory. Like a lot of reviews, I found that the makers of these shoes undersize them. Getting a full size larger might have helped but the "Wide" at the toe is at best a "regular" and the heel is a sloppy fit. Trying to "break them in" by wearing them for a half hour in the house was a painful experience. Must be made for the Italian foot.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I have been wearing these boots for the past 8 years for all my hiking and backpacking trips. I'm now on my third pair, and I continue to be amazed on how LL Bean manages to improve an already incredible product. Even when hiking the most demanding of terrain, my feet always feel great at the end of the day when I wear these boots. I hope LL Bean continues to make these boots for years to come!

This shoe has incredible quality suede. All the other materials are very nice too. I've had mine over a year and the suede looks good as new. Maintenance is involved; frequent washing in warm mildly soapy water and treatment with nikwax water repellant. The knap on the suede is luxurious and beautiful. Expensive, but top quality all the way. LL Bean combined with Gore Tex and Vibram soles- you cannot go wrong.
You can pay more, but you probably cannot find anything better in this category of outdoor footwear!
Robust design with high quality materials and workmanship, this "rough terrain" hiking shoe promises to deliver miles and miles of great comfort and foot protection. As the catalog states, these shoes will require extensive breaking in.
Sizing may be a little tricky as I felt the shoes ran a bit long in comparison to prior L.L.Bean hiking shoes purchased (order two pair, one in your normal size and one a half size smaller, then return the pair you do not feel fits).
