When my Gore-Tex Low Cut Boots arrived they looked sturdy and well made. I ordered the wide version (EE) in my normal shoe size for maximum comfort. However, after 5 days of walking around Italy in them I was surprised at how much my feet hurt each day. My feet felt squeezed especially in the front even though they were a wide size. They felt too small and they never loosened up or felt broken-in, even by the end of my trip. They were extremely stiff. The upper part of the shoes did not fit properly and the laces often came untied, presumably from how tight and ill fitting on my foot they were. I returned them for a more comfortable sneaker like shoe and hopefully they will be more comfortable.

I buy these shoes for my son and he has always been tough on shoes. He is now wearing his third pair in 6 years. He has never had shoes last longer than 3-4months!
A few problems that I had with these shoes. I have a narrow foot so I was happy to see these shoes offered in narrow (B) width (not many of the LLBean shoes come in a narrow width I have found). I found the shoes to not be narrow enough, but worse, they seemed VERY stiff and did not fit well generally. I bought three pairs of Bean/Merill similar shoes years ago. They only recently "failed" on me so I have been looking for a good replacement. I was diasppointed that these didn't do the job. On with the search for the perfect 13 (OK, maybe 12.5) narrow "sport" shoe.
