I love my low-cut Gore-Tex Mountain Treads, and wear them most days. They look good and feel great. This pair replaces an identical pair that I've worn out. And that is my only disappointment -- that they didn't last longer. What wore out: the Vibram soles grew smooth (walking on concrete probably contributed to that); the tips on the laces (and identicalnew laces aren't available); and the waterproofing from the Gore-Tex.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
This is the third pair of these shoes I've purchased, two for my husband and one for my dad. The fit is great, they offer great support for long hikes/walks and are true to size.

Recently received my second pair of Gore-Tex Mountain Treads, Low-Cut. My only surprise was to see that the grey color on the new pair is darker than the earlier pair. No worries, though! My first pair lasted only 4.5 years of hard, often daily, wear. I cannot sing the praises of these shoes too highly. The toe box has plenty of room; no jammed toes. The Vibram sole is outstanding. In all kinds of weather, on all kinds of terrain, these are my go-to shoes. I live in Japan, a country replete with bizarre weather ranging from typhoons to snow to monsoons. These beauties take it all in stride. My feet are never overheated, due to the breathable leather and mesh upper. Of course, the Gore-Tex helps. LL advises that a reasonable break-in time is required. On both pairs, my required break-in time was the time required to remove the shoes from the box, put them on, and start walking! Kudos to LL Bean and those wonderful Italian shoemakers, and a Merry Christmas to all. I highly recommend these shoes. My name is Kawasaki Bill and I endorse this message.
Shoes have excellent padding and shock absorption. The narrow width did not meet my needs for a narrow shoe. Difficult to lace and cinch to make them snug.
