I wear full orthotics and although they are not particularly thick orthotics and fit fine inside a wide range of other shoes and boots, the heel cups of these shoes are too shallow to accommodate them without my heel rubbing (and wearing out both the boot and my heel). A call to Customer Service confirmed that they are not good with orthotics. Pity as they appeared to be be otherwise well made. Please let me know if you redesign them!
The toe width is about average for what is "narrow" in today's terms. Wish the heel width was narrower; for those of us with "truly narrow feet" we have a very, very hard time finding shoes or ones that are reasonably priced.
I bought a pair of these when they first came out years ago, and wore 'em out. I wasn't sure that I liked the new tread pattern, as the original sole was really easy to keep mud-free. I finally broke down and purchased the lastest model, and am very pleased. The new tread rinses spanky-clean of all mud and debris in puddles, the fit is still excellent, quality is first-rate, and this pair seems to be a bit lighter-weight. I'm glad that LL Bean continues to carry these shoes!
I loved the fact that you offered a narrow in MEN'S SIZING! We did not count on the fact that it would run long and should have ordered a half size smaller. Otherwise, a great shoe that we had to return.
