I had the original Mountain treads and loved them. These are much more narrow and are low volume in the toe box as compared to the originals. I would recommend if you are on the cusp between wide and medium or narrow and medium, definitely go the width size up.
This is the second pair of gore-tex mountain treads I have purchased for my husband. He said they are the absolutely most comfortable shoes he has ever owned, and he would HIGHLY recommend. They are hand-made in Italy . . . say no more. You just can't beat the quality of items purchased from L. L. Bean. Thank you!
My husband absolutely lives in these shoes! I bought him a new pair this year and made him transition his old pair to "shop shoes." They are incredibly comfortable and wear very well. Due to a foot condition, he had to transition from a Regular to a Wide, but they are as great as his old pair and he is back to living happily in his shoes again.
