It has pleanty of room with an almost slim profile. Looks good and seems to be well made. I have had a few weeks and carry it filled with laptop and sales material every day... would recommend highly!
I purchased the Maine Guide Briefcase in Waxed Canvas to use for work and travel. I was surprised to read the review that said there was no room after putting in a laptop. I currently have a 13" Macbook, the charger, 2 books, ipod, travel info, and miscellaneous items in this bag and there's still room for more! I usually do not have a problem with the buckles, but they have slipped on occasion. No problems with the strap. This bag looks good and works great!
I got this for my son in his teaching job. He wanted something 'cool' looking but useful to carry teaching materials to and from school. He loves it. I am very picky about quality of things and this meets with my approval. Very well made, sturdy, lots of good compartments and even one for his laptop. Expands nicely to hold larger teaching manuals. Comfortable shoulder strap. The leather trim makes it very classy. Color is great.
I was sorley disappointed with this bag. I find the balance is poor and the strap keeps slipping. Ergonomically it's a disaster. I ached for days after a business trip. Also, there is no sleeve to slip over to a rolling carry on. In addition, after a laptop (14") there is little room for anything else. This bag looks a whole lot better than it performs, and considering the cost it's a real shame. It just sits in my basement now. I had to go out and buy a practical bag, and it was 1/3 the price.
