Excellent construction, looks great... but totally impractical for actual use... the inside pockets are too small wont hold check book, phone etc....and just dump everything out... Just got mine as a gift and will be returning it asap.... love the look.. but need it to work.... Designer obviously never field tested the product.
Exactly what I was looking for. The briefcase looks good, has ample room, very high quality materials, leather, brass, waxed canvas, etc. The strap is sturdy and comfortable, and constructed to sit easily on the shoulder for carrying. Excellent value.
First one ripped . . . second one did 6 mos. later

While I like the functionality, size and looks of the Maine Guide Briefcase, it has not stood up to the durability challenge whatsoever. I carry the briefcase probably 2 - 3 times a week, and the first briefcase began ripping at the seams about 6 months in. So, I returned it - only for the same thing to happen. I love LL Bean and generally stand by their products - but this needs to go back once again, and I plan on trying an alternative product, perhaps the Commuter Briefcase.
The quality of this case, for the price, is exceptional. I will be passing it down to my son when I retire. I have had quite a number of my coworkers ask where they can get one since it is of much higher quality and durable than the typical ballistic nylon laptop cases other staffers shoulder around.
