I wrote a review on the Maine Guide Duffel as well but further use has demonstrated a severe problem with the clasps. They simply do not hold. The products are, otherwise, rugged. I've decided to look for something else. For LLBean: very disappointing.
While the pack is relatively durable and holds a lot, I have had three problems/concerns. First, the clasps which secure the top flap and the two back pockets have a tendency to become undone when you bump into something. If you do not have the pockets zipped, or the pack opening (at the top) well secured, you can lose something. I have a rolling duffle of the same design, and have a similar problem with the clasps which secure the side flap. Second, the stitching on one of the straps is coming apart (after relatively light use). Finaly, I find that the straps are a bit long for my taste. Given these concerns, I do not think this is worth the relatively high cost.
