I currently have four pairs of the Allagash pants. Unfortunately the last pair I bought were of a much lighter material. I will say that the overall design was the same and they were well made. However, they had gone from being a rugged outdoor pair of pants to a summer weight casual. I had hoped that this was a short lived production run but judging by other recent reviews, it sounds like the cheaper version is here to stay. I won't be buying any additional pairs of this version.
Please bring these pants back! Not the newer version with the orange stitching and the button closure. Bring back the the jean style, sturdier rivet type closure. I am in sales on jobsites and the old type was perfect. A step above jeans but able to take more of a beating than chinos. I was sad to see these discontinued and hope it is just a seasonal decision. I hope just because you sell the Katahdin line you didn't discontinue these. These pants are more comfortable and are more acceptable in the office than the Katahdin Work Pants with all the extra pockets. I enjoy nearly all your products but shy away from most of your pants due to flimsy button type closures.
Tremendous fit, tough as nails--great for work or just knocking around. They look as sharp at day's end as when you first pull them on in the morning. I bought one pair of these trousers at first, and then got them in two other different colors. I'd have gotten them in all the colors if they'd've all been available. You must be moving some units on these, and not without reason.
I bought the new style Allagash pants just before Christmas. I was looking for something sturdy. After 3 washings the button literally fell apart into 5-6 pieces in my hand. I took them back and they were out of stock in my size. However on the remainder rack they had a pair of the old style Allagash pants for half the price. On top of that they were made of much heavier material with a metal button, a much better product. I have since bought a second pair of the old style, and have two pairs of much superior pants for the price of one. I think LLBean made a mistake in changing the design to a lighter material with a plastic button.
