My son LOVES these pants, great for cold mornings, warm afternoons. He's in college all day, when the day turns warm, zips off the legs, stuffs them in his backpack. The one BIG problem is the zippers. They are cheap thin nylon. The teeth either break, bend out of shape or the fabric stretches to deform the zipper. I've had to return one pair and have repaired 3 others myself with new zippers.
Since these pants are a gift for my DH for Christmas, I really cannot write an accurate review at this time. He has other brands of zip-off pants, but I'm guessing the LL Bean ones will become his new favorites.
Bought these pants almost a year ago. They fit perfectly and are very durable. The zip off bottoms were perfect when I hiked in the catskills. It was cool in the morning and by afternoon is warmed up enough to remove the bottoms which removed with ease. Everything else about the pants are great. Pockets, fit, lightweight, fast drying, and packable. Definitely buying another pair.
