Wonderful pants. Tough fabric withstands slipping while climbing or scooting across a rock on your bottom. Articulated knees are nice.
The best part are the side zips on the pants. They allow you to quickly and easily zip the legs off or on while on the trail. No one has to wait for you while you take off your shoes. Just pause, unzip and pull them over your hiking boots.
I purchased 2 pair of the zip offs, 2 pair of the non-zip off pants, and one pair of the shorts.
I have looked for zip off pants for a very long time that are balanced in weight and convenience. These are perfect for me in in function and most important in value. They are lower cost than some of the other name brand pants but better quality. I ordered two more pair and will use them in an upcoming trip to Colorado in October. Typical LL Bean quality.
I am writing this after owning a pair and hiking through many parks and over many terrains for many years. Unfortunately, a zipper broke completely off, but as usual LL Bean stood behind their clothing and I have received a new pair. So I am off to Banff and Yellowstone and quite happy. My advice...Buy two pair!!
