I have the earlier version of this and it is great. The earlier ones could be ordered in waist and inseam. This one is only in Med, Large, and so is too long. The legs would drag on the ground. Back it goes. The back pockets are also strange and there is only one security pocket- the earlier version had two. The low rating is due to the inability to specify inseam.
My husband is very picky about how his clothes fit and feel. I gave these as a gift for hiking and traveling; however, he wears them all the time. In fact, when he tried them on, I don't think he took them off for a day and a half. That is a big endorsement for their comfort!
We use these pants for hiking and backpacking and regular around the house wear. For backpacking, during rainy periods, they are a good substitute for rain pants because they dry quickly (as opposed to jeans). The zip-off feature is good for layering up or down. My husband wears these instead of his traditional jeans because they cover a wide range of conditions and are comfortable temperature wise in all conditions. I have worn them for down hill skiing, backpacking in the mountains and for a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon.
I've used them both for hiking and mountain biking. Started w the long pants and simply zipped off for shorts when the temp heated up. Will be buying another pair soon as it appears to be a great item for golfers.
