Light, soft fabric. Enough room to allow free movement. Leg seam is not irritating. No cargo pockets, but pocket room and system is adequate, with one zip closure, rear velcro closures, and one inside key clip. The slash styling on the rear pockets might not be to everyone's liking.
I bought these pants a year ago and only wore them twice last fall and once this spring before the zipper on one leg broke. I tried fixing it, but it broke again so I shipped it back. I did purchase a new pair as I really liked the pants/shorts for hiking. I hope the zipper is more durable on this new pair.

These are the perfect choice for travel when it's hot and hotter, when you are traveling and when you are trying to enjoy the food and wine. Pants in the morning, easy off to shorts in the afternoon sun and an expandable waist.
I loved the design of these pants! They have great features like ankle drawcords and zips. Pockets are sufficient and well designed. Unfortunately they didn't fit well. Firstly, when converted to shorts they hit several inches above the knee. LLBean, please remember it's the 21st century - shorts should be at least knee length. Also, the regular length was just a couple inches too long. I'm 5'9" and wear a 30" inseam and I found myself stepping on the bottoms of the pant legs. I also would like to see these offered in a shade of green.
