Timberledge pants
PostedAugust 2, 2011
ProsDurable, Comfortable
This is a truly great pair of pants--except for color selection. They are comfortable, durable, easy to wash, quick to dry, have great pockets, fit beautifully--I love them(!)--but the color selection is just not up to LL Bean standards. I ordered "Briar" (which BTW, is not a color) and found them to be more of a a yellow ocher. They are the color of light mud--reminds me of a river in Bangladesh. Not pretty--so they are going back to Maine. These are supposed to be outdoor pants! Give us a real outdoor color--something dark in olive/brown, or grey/brown. Not long ago these pants came in Ash and Dusty Green (I bought both)--and both were far better than Briar. LL Bean is still my favorite retailer/outfitter and I love the Timberledge pants. But we need better color options. Five stars with better colors!

ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable
I have had two pairs of these trousers now for five years, for all kinds of sporting activities: my daily cycle commute, hiking, mountaineering, and skiing on warm days. They are only now starting to look a bit worn! And I agree about the practicality of the pockets, and also, in my experience, there is no stain that does not wash out of the fabric. Glad to see them in grey again, that colour wasn't available for a time.

Look no further for hiking pants!

ProsDurable, Comfortable
I just got back from Central America, where I wore these on day hikes in the rainforest, and their performance was exemplary. I have also given them a lot of use on hikes in New York State. They have done a superb job all around. They are comfortable in hot weather, and you can turn them into shorts. If they get wet, they dry faster than any other pants I have had. They stretch very nicely, so they are great for rock scrambles and other maneuvers. My only complaint is that the belt that came with it is pretty low quality, and that the waist can come undone occasionally. Also, they are a bit thin for cold weather - but you can wear long johns under them. I'm getting another pair for sure.

New Design Pants

ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, well designed!
These pants have the back pockets designed with the opening on a slant. It makes using the pockets MUCH easier! Why didn't somebody think of this before!
