This product is perfect as a outer layer on cold fall days, and more than ideal for a mid layer underneath a winter coat. I work everyday outside in bitter cold Atlantic Canada. This sweatshirt with its nylon sleeves and cotton insultation is in my eyes the best I have ever come across. I own two and have found the insulation value has increased over the past year in my first. I am constantly doing research to find clothes that keep me; dry, warm, and protected from the elements of the outdoors. L.L.bean has always delivered the best product for the money hands down! Do your research and pick a product that is ideal for your needs alone and you will never be let down.

I have been buying from LL Bean for around 20 years, and find this product to be as good as any product that I have bought in that time period. Having read many reviews that people have left for things that they have bought from LL Bean, I am used to reading that people are happy or unhappy with a given product, or that it met their expectation or, sometimes, did not. This is always for a host of reasons. I can confidently say that this product exceeded my expectations, even after reading an incredible amount of good reviews. So much so, that this is my first product review; I had to do it! The sweatshirt is nice and warm, comfy and fits beautifully. My kids love to snuggle up to it, and refer to it as my "cosy jacket." That's a lot to say given that my kids are 30 years old! Just kidding, they're 3. :-)
Anyway, this is a very solid, and well made sweatshirt. LL Bean advertises it to stand up to hard use, (which I'm sure it will), but the sweatshirt is soft, warm and cosy, and that why I wanted it.
Also, it's worth noting that, despite not often wearing a hood, the hood is nice and thick, and is very comfortable to support your neck when you're sitting in a lounge chair or laying on your bed. Even when you're standing it feels warm an nice.
Spectacular product, and a superb holiday gift!!!! Get one. You won't regret it!

I was very happy with this sweatshirt, wore it for three weeks in very cool weather, it was great. On the fourth week i found the sleeve liner in the right sleeve, had seperated, looks like it was a bad seam sewing job. I sent it back to bean for a replacement, no hassel, no problems, they replaced it right away.That was the only draw back that kept me from giving it five stars. The over all quality is well worth the money and I still feel that as usual, beans products are top of the line. This sweatshirt replaces other jackets I have, hands down.
