This thing is great, comfortable and warm seems to hold up good in the wash so far anyway. My only problem is the sleeve lining, why did they put nylon lining in the sleeves, it would be so much more comfortable if the whole thing was fleece lined like the sides and hood. Still a nice jacket but it would be near perfect without the nylon lining.
I absolutely love my Iron Works Vest, so I ordered the full sweatshirt. As other reviewers have noted, and what is NOT listed in any description at LL Bean, is that while the body of the garment is lined with the great berber fleece, the arms are lined with 100% smooth, slick polyester, which does not breathe AT ALL! It has a plastic feel and behavior, in other words it will trap sweat inside. A real disappointment and a waste of time. I would not have ordered this garment if it was properly described in the catalog or online.
A month ago (late August), I visited the store in Columbia, MD to find something to take to Alaska to keep me warm and dry. I paired the Katahdin Iron Works® Heavyweight Hooded Sweatshirt with the waterproof storm jacket, expecting the storm jacket to be used the most. I wore the sweatshirt on the plane ride and constantly for the next several days. It was warm and comfortable, and perfect for the weather conditions. My wife wore it when I wasn't. I look forward to Fall and Winter in MD to use it again.
