This substantial "sweatshirt" is quite warm and handles dry temperatures down to 30 degrees F with ease. Love the lining in the sleeves and the underarm gussets make driving while zipped effortless. However, my favorite feature is the hidden security pocket inside each "kangaroo" pocket. Great for keys, cell phone, IPODs, etc.
I own several LL Bean fleece jackets and I must say that, when it comes to warmth (alone), my first pick for moderately cold (dry) weather would be this "sweatshirt". Just bought 2 more!!
Because this garment looked so good, I was disappointed that the sleeves of the sweatshirt weren’t fleece-lined like the body and hood, and even more so that they were lined with a material (acetate?) that feels like it’s actually pulling heat away from you, the antithesis of what a sweatshirt’s supposed to do. It would have been better if the sleeves weren’t lined at all. Also, the care and attention imposed by the unusually weak, undersized Velcro strip used to “secure” the kangaroo security pocket (you’ll probably want to use 2 hands) is more effort than it’s worth, especially since the pull tab to which said Velcro is attached is positioned in the adjacent outer pocket such that removing your hand from it will often inadvertently undo the tab, leaving the security pocket unsecured.
