I was surprised the sleeves don't have the same lining as the rest of the sweatshirt (I think it's nylon?). I wear an LLBean zip up sweatshirt to the gym everyday over a t-shirt, and thought this would be perfect in the cooler weather. But since the sleeves are against bare skin, it's actually colder on my arms than my regular LLBean. However, with a long sleeve shirt on it's great, and I love the security pocket within the regular pocket.
This is by far the heaviest and finest quality sweatshirt available anywhere for any price. Sure it costs a fair amount but man will you be impressed when it arrives. I'm so impressed I ordered a second one. This thing keeps you so warm, even in the cold windy conditions. It is a heavyweight and man the lining is even in the hood and keeps your head, neck and ears toasty warm. This is by far the finest hooded sweatshirt ever!
My mother-in-law bought one of these jackets for her son for his birthday, despite my warnings that he had enough jackets and L.L.Bean flannel and chamois shirts to last the rest of his life !
She wanted to get him something different and it HAD to come from L.L.Bean.
He put it on and has rarely taken it off to go outside - loves it so much !
So, I decided to get one for my son in NC. He works outdoors and needs jackets that are comfortable to work in and can be layered. He called and just went on and on about this jacket . He's(usually very thankful for gifts, but not like this response)! The hood fits well, pockets are great and even he can wash it without ruining it. He says it is the best jacket ever !
