While I cannot attest to the durability of the sweatshirt in the long run, it seems like a very well built and sturdy sweatshirt. I realize that the sleeves have some people iffy because they do not have the softness on the inside, but this is really not anything to worry about. The lining in the sleeves makes this sweatshirt really easy to get on and off. It's been about 25 F here in CA, which is a very oddly low temperature for us. This sweatshirt has been keeping me super warm. Not once have I even shivered. I don't even have to have it zipped up in order to be super warm.
I definitely do agree about the hood like some other reviewers pointed out, though. The hood is just a bit too small and while it does a fine job, what would be great is if this sweatshirt gave more room in the neck and in the hood. One thing I'd also add is an inside pocket. This would be really helpful. Although, the security pockets inside the front pockets are *extremely* useful. I never have to worry about my phone or wallet falling out.
Overall, this sweatshirt is great and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment about buying one for a relative or good friend. I got the lighter blue one and I've received many compliments on the color of it. I am 5'8" and 140lbs and a M fit me perfectly. I also like my clothing large, so if you like it a little more snug, I'd go a size down.
The tall large is too big around the body, but the length of the arms is perfect. The tall medium is just right around the body, but the arms are too short; and the regular large has the same arm length as the tall medium. I am done shopping with LL Bean!
Purchased this for my 12 year old son who refuses to wear a jacket to school. He put this on the minute he saw it - and has worn it to school every day since! Great quality, very warm.
Love this sweatshirt: well made, warm, substantial, wears well. I originally bought it in brown, did not like the colour, gave it to my son, and then ordered another. It's warm and heavy duty. Many sweatshirts have stitching issues, zipper issues, or interior issues that wear away, I will be surprised if I have similar issues here. I read one review that expressed dissatisfaction with the liner in the sleeves (that is was nylon, cold, etc.), but the liner is perfect if you're wearing a long sleeved shirt or another sweater. You easily slide your arms into the sleeves without your shirt or 1st sweater bunching up at all. So, is this a sweater to wear with a t-shirt? Perhaps not, but considering it's lined for extra warmth, why is a person wearing a t-shirt to begin with? Anyway, love it and recommend it.
