Catalog photo of this coat in chocolate brown accurately depicts how this coat fits--roomy in body and in sleeves, boxy, mid-thigh length, sleeves extending to the knuckles. I'm 5'7", 140 lbs. wear size 12. Medium in this coat fits me just like the catalog photo. The coat has many good features--light weight and very warm, soft, thick, good-looking, with warm patch pockets. After 2 months of wear, the fleece pile is looking a bit matted. Agree with other reviewers that the collar doesn't lie flat. The bright color of the contrast lining in the blue and burgundy coats doesn't work with the muted, heathery colors of the coats. The coat was at a sale price in the outlet stores for a while after the holidays, and that price more correctly reflects the value of the coat. Nevertheless, if it appears at the sale price again, I will buy another.
I recently found this coat on clearance in Bean's Albany store. I usually wear a size large, but this one is a medium & fits fine! I especially appreciate the full coverage (knee length). And the berber fleece is so soft :-)
I have the older version of this coat and I have loved it for several years. I do not like this updated version at all, the collar will not lay flat, corners flip up in front, piping around outside edge pulls, so front will not lay straight either and the interior color was not same a shown online and in catalog. It was the same color as outside giving a very bland look. I was not too pleased with the facing that was inside of front as it also would not lay flat and made it look and feel bulky. Normally I am happy with items I order and this one is simply a oops , I hope they will change back to the old model soon.
I have been looking for a coat that fits for several years. Few places offer the Petite X-Small size, and most coats are made to fit younger females with thinner frames. I don't think anyone would consider me overweight; however, things shift as we age. I have ordered and returned several coats/jackets that I could not button because they were so "fitted." This coat fits perfectly--roomy, but not bulky--plus cuddly warm. My only criticism is that I'm tired of almost all outerwear having the standup collars.
