The coat is very functional for winter - warm, (Polartec 300), light, and comfy. Downside: the collar cannot stay flat in place. Maybe it is not meant to be so, but to stay up to protect the neck of chilly wind. I am 5'2" and 110 lbs and Regular Medium is comfy enough to layer underneath although the sleeves are longer by about 2 inches but I do not mind as I could fold up or leave it long for wind-protection. Petite Medium was unavailable, so I purchased Regular Medium. I ordered another one in Regular Small and although the fit is less roomy (i.e. it is more tailored), the sleeves do not come off as readily as the medium. I will keep the Regular Medium and give the Regular Small to my daughter (i.e. if she wants it). Otherwise, I will return the Regular Small. Both sizes have a slightly different shade of SABLE. The Regular Medium has a darker shade than the Regular Small. I am not sure whether it will pill after washing.
I normally wear a medium but ordered a large. Bad move--it's huge! I'm very flat chested and the princess seams don't do me any favors. I may reorder in a medium, because I love everything else about the coat.
This is a great warm jacket, I'm a big polar fleece fan. I'm usually a 1x in jackets but I took a chance and ordered an XL, hoping it would fit. Thankfully it runs generous in size, it's a keeper. I got the Deep Water Blue, great color. It feels soft and cozy, it will be my favorite everyday jacket. Thanks L.L. Bean for the best polar fleece choices.
Ordered this in the Sable in Medium. Sable color is very much a golden tan color in this fleece. This is HUGE - I wish I'd exchanged it - as the Medium is like an X-Large fit on me. Order two sizes down from your normal store size. The sleeves however, could be 2 or so inches longer.
However, it is very warm and toasty - and beautifully made; very good quality. The pockets in the front are nice and deep for dog leads, balls, bags and pretty much anything else. It is a longer fit, which is nice too.
I agree with another reviewer - the collar does not stay down - unless you have the jacket open and unbuttoned. Wth the collar up, it makes this a very warm (BIG) jacket!
