Blazer jacket, insulated
PostedFebruary 11, 2011
Prosquality and practical
My jacket arrived yesterday, and it was carefully and well-packaged. (It's wrinkled but I'm hanging it on a proper jacket hanger so am hopeful it will de-wrinkle somewhat). I've been an LLBean customer for nearly forty years, and this jacket represents Bean's (and my own) high quality standards.
The wool is substantial (not thin) but has a soft hand since it's made of l00% Shetland wool; the jacket also appears well-made.
I was uncertain of fit but I read the reviews and ordered my usual size, a 36 Short. It fits well, not too tight, nor too baggy. It is appropriately sized and designed. Other positive features: I can layer underneath it (e.g., shirt + a sweater vest),, and I can also wear it over a single shirt. Overall, the fit feels "relaxed", and comfortable, with layering options made possible. Great pockets (two inside, one zips closed), and of course the regular outside pockets, standard to a blazer or sport coat.
The wool is of good quality and I look forward to getting a lot of use out of it. I believe it can be worn and used for a full three seasons (fall, winter (with a parka over it), and early spring, too).
It can be dressed up with slacks (corduroys would be fine) or down (with blue jeans).
At it's full price, it's a good purchase;
on sale, it represents an outstanding value.
Thank you, LLBean, for continuing to offer such fine, quality products.

Insulated Blazer - size matters
PostedFebruary 9, 2011
I tried on the Men's Insulated Blazer Jacket, size 42 Tall, in the store. It fit like a glove (I'm 6'1", 173 lbs. with relatively long arms). That size was only available in brown in the store, however, and I preferred the green. The salesperson helped me order the same size in green by phone. When the jacket arrived, it fit well through the torso, but the arms would have been long on Kareem Abdul-Jabaar. I had to return the jacket in the store, but a customer service person assisted me in ordering the same coat in a 42 Regular. When that coat arrived, the lengths were correct, but I could have put two of me in the jacket. I returned that jacket and gave up on the project.
It's a really nice garment, but the sizes are inconsistent. Customer service was excellent, though.

Warm and Comfortable

Surprisingly warm at below freezing temps and comfortable. Received it a bit wrinkled but against the directions I lightly steamed iron it myself without a problem and looks great. I had to go with one size smaller.

Functional and Stylish
PostedFebruary 3, 2011
Bought this jacket and wore it right out of the store in 23 degree weather. It was warm and looked great. I am very pleased with the cut and the insulation value of this jacket.
