I was skeptical initially about ordering and had read everything from "too wrinkly" to "too large" to "cheaply made." I did not find this to be the case at all. The coat is well built, is made of 100% Shetland Wool, and is intended to be worn outdoors. It's not a blazer or a suit jacket and you shouldnt expect that it will fit as such if you order it. Its insulated and was very true to size. At 6' 4'', I ordered a 46 Tall, and it fits perfectly, as I wear a 46 XLong in a suit, also. This coat looks great, is very warm and can be either dressed up or down with ease. I'm not sure you can pass it up..especially at the sale price and is a very unique piece, especially with its Primaloft liner. I haven't seen anything at all comparable from other shops or catalogs.
I'm 6' 4" at 260 lbs and the jacket fits me perfectly... Perhaps a bit long in the sleeve but that way it covers the top of my gloves nicely no chill breezes up the sleeve. Wonderfully warm it was 26 degrees this morning at 6 am when I left for my BNI meeting and the coat was plenty warm did not even use the actual working top button or the FUNCTIONAL(pleasant surprise)collar Storm strap which is a bit tight but then I’m no pencil(19”) neck. I was pleasantly surprised to find the size 52 fit…I used to buy 52’s all the time and while I have not grown any bigger coat sizes seem to have shrunk to where you had to be some scrawny pencil necked geek to wear a 52… I had to buy an XXL(56) two years ago to get the sleeve length and fit across the back. Not here I’m happy to say…Just wish I could afford to get the brown one also, I’ll pass on the root-beer check model till it gets to about $40-50 then it might even tempt me. I really LIKE this Jacket!
These blazers are not designed to be the super trim athletic fit. These are practicle jackets, made to be worn with layers, a River Driver double layer, a cotton dress or sport shirt, a mid-weight sweater, all these at once. The cut and feel of the jacket is clean and filled with spirit of days gone by when we lived in a country flurishing with practicle men and women, concerned with being warm, looking presentable. The look and feel of the fabric displays a sturdiness and softness. These are good jackets.
I wrapped the jacket in the box in came in without looking at it -- it's horribly wrinkled and looked very tacky. It hangs funny on my husband -- I want to return it, but he hasn't decided yet.
Certainly not the quality I've come to expect from LLBean.
