Definitely ultra soft and comfortable as the name implies, but the fabric lacks enough weight and body to make the neck "scrunch" as I had hoped (it falls down limply at the neckline). I love the color (hazelnut) and would like to see a wider range of browns (not just chocolate) in more bean clothing.
I got the crew neck in "light indigo heather" on sale and loved the coziness. The color was indeed light indigo and looks nice with the indigo Swift River sweater. Then, I got the "black cherry heather" scrunchneck to go with my newly-purchased black cherry Swift River sweater. I loved the color of the scrunchneck on-line and in the catalog. In person, the black cherry color is not at all as rich as depicted in print or on-line. I guess I didn't understand the meaning of "heather" as it applies to the ultrasoft heather shirts. This shirt has a sort of faded or overwashed appearance which maybe is what "heather" means. It is not at all the saturated color which is what I assumed I was getting. In spite of all that, it is comfy and complements the sweater. I just don't get that "wow" feeling from this purchase. Also, now that I have fallen in love with the Swift River sweaters and vests, it is a big bummer that so many of the colors of Ultrasoft crewnecks and scrunchnecks are sold out in my size (medium). I ordered the Swift River vest in hazelnut, then discovered there were no scrunchnecks or crew necks in my size in hazelnut to go with it. What's up with that?
