I absolutely LOVE this jacket. It's warm, warm! The high today was 43, the low was 26. My torso was never cold. Now, I just need some pants and gloves and hat to match! I bought black and brown, because I didn't know which color I would like. I kept both. The black has a black interior, just FYI. Great outdoor jacket. No, not too fitted, but I don't care. It's very comfortable and plenty of room to move. And lightweight! Best jacket I've ever had. I bought a medium and it was perfect for my 5'4" - 134 lbs, av build.
Always in search of a nice down jacket that is lightweight, flattering and warm and this one is it. I got the chocolate brown with a pale blue interior which is a great neutral color combination. Not too bright and not too dark (black) Bought it at the Albany NY store on sale for $44 and used my $10 coupon card from the XMAS season. What a sweet deal for a $70 jacket that I would have easily paid that for it. As others have mentioned, a zip-off hood for that option would be the icing on the cake.
I just purchased this jacket on 1/13/09 at the regular price. It is now on sale. Even at the regular price it was a bargain. The Dark Turquoise is absolutely beautiful! I really stand out in the crowd on a New York subway. I usually wear a medium and that is what I purchased. The fit is "trim," but with plenty of room for a fleece sweater or jacket and even a vest. I wore it this past weekend while I was snowshoeing and it was in the upper teens. I was plenty warm.
I would like to suggest that LL Bean standardize their pocket offerings on all their jackets of this type. I also own the Rugged Ridge Parka, and the outside pockets are on the diagonal, which makes them a bit larger than ones that zip straight up and down. They also hold your gloves better, and your keys and other stuff. It would also be good to include 3 inner pockets on all jackets too, as is the case with the Rugged Ridge Parka. As others have noted, a removable hood would make this great jacket even better!
