This coat is very warm! The only things that I would change are that it seems to be bulkier (has more filling) on the top around the shoulders, which makes me look a little bit like a linebacker, and the sleeves could be a little bit longer.
I am 5'7", average size 14 (L) in most LLBean clothes and this size L, goose down jacket is exactly what I was looking for.
I already have a great LLBean two-layer winter jacket that is ultra-warm especially since it is large enough (XL)to wear bulky sweaters underneath. I can spend time outdoors in that on very cold days and not suffer. But the majority of days I need something light, yet warm, something that is not cumbersome to run errands in, spending days going in and out of the car, stores, etc. This jacket does that for me. I had been wearing the inner coat of the two-layer to accomplish this, but didn't want to wear it out more than its outer counterpart.
I chose the fushia color for its spunkiness. I love the slight form fit the size L gives at the waist...not too much but enough to look feminine. I can't wear bulky sweaters underneath but find I am toasty even going for my daily walk with just a single layer beneath. I love the built-in extra layer at the wrists for warmth. I like the freedom of not having a bulky hood behind me. I tend to like hats rather than hoods especially when the collar has extra padding for warmth and zips all the way up the way this one does.
